Business Cards

These business card are going to support my Final Major Project display in the Summer Show. This is part of the professional practice required for this project, but also a key bit of information needed if we were to create our own exhibition. Business cards were originally called 'Visiting' or 'Calling' cards. They were originally very expensive and time consuming to produce. They had to be created individually and any visual imagery wanted on the card had to be illustrated as photography was only just starting out and there were no computers or digital processes.

These cards are like an advert for your business or trade so there are a few things they should include to be successful and professional. They should brand your business: whether this is your logo or name of your business, this should be visible so that people know who created the photography. It should make a statement: this is to ensure they stand out from the rest and are memorable. If someone goes around to an exhibition and picks up three or four different cards, then yours need to be the one that sticks out and is memorable. It should have a function aesthetic quality: this could be a variety of different things depending on the trade your business is in. As a photographer, I need to ensure that I am able to get my imagery onto these cards so that potential clients can start to get an idea of the types of images I produce and its also to show off my work. Another consideration if the choice of font: you want something that is easily readable and something that looks professional and sophisticated.

There are certain bits of key information you should include on your business cards: Your name or company name; mobile number; email address and website address. You should not include your home address as this is too personal.

These are my chosen designs for my business cards. I have chosen 5 different designs and I will receive 100 cards, 10 of each design. It includes my name, contact number and email address and my website link. I a happy with the images I have chosen and think that they demonstrate my style of photography and will also look really professional when completed.
